Gianluca Motta is a young DJ whose name and sound are by now very well known among Pan-European clubbers, DJ’s, producers and record label professionals. As he enters the club, like a bull enters the arena, raw power and pure energy starts flowing in the air, like warm breath from the beast’s nostrils! But where did all of this start? In the beginning of the 90’s he starts shaping his taste and technique, djing at Mazoom, a club that represents a pillar in the Italian house scene and still remains the most important house club in the north of Italy. Here he comes in touch with personalities such as Timo Maas, Lil Louis , Kevorkian, Tony Humphries, Morillo and many others. During the four years he spends at Mazoom as resident he develops his own unmistakable, unforeseeable, original and dynamic style. His sound consists of a powerful blend of his favourite musical scents, discomusic and Techno, wisely mixed together in a tasty “sound cocktail”. Nowadays his music can be heard in the most famous and crowded Italian clubs. Gianluca is resident at Villa delle Rose in Riccione, the number one club in Italian summers since years, and at Matis in Bologna too, where he guests superstar djs like Satoshi Tomiie, David Morales, Ralf, Layo & Bushwacka and Peace Division. He also uses to blow people’s minds with his burning sets at the decks of Paradiso in Rimini, Atlantique in Milan , but he doesn’t reserve strengths to export his music as guest in Tito’s[g1] in Palma di Maiorca , Space in Mykonos , or for exclusive live events at Street Parade in Zurich ,Poland, Germany and Switzerland. Legends and myths spread through the Clubber’s community regarding his performances as resident at Original Sin AfterHours (sharing the console with Claudio Coccoluto, Ralf, Farfa and Cirillo, just to name the most important Italian ones) and often spinning as guest at Wish Afterhours in Riccione. Motta is also well known as a Producer and Remixer, and also beside being part of the “Minimal Chic” project. Under this nickname and his own one he’s been working on an international level, remixing artists of the like of Erick Morillo (“What Do You Want”), Simply Red (“Home”), Michael Gray (“The Weekend”, “Borderline” , “Somewhere Beyond”), Despina Vandi (“Gia”), Oscar G & Ralph Falcon (“Dark Beat”), Peter Rauhofer (2 Raumwohnung & Moguai “Sex Secret”), Tom Novy (“Your Body”), Hoxton Whores (“Promised Land”), Horny United (“Golden Faces”), Djuma Soundsystem (“Led Djinnes”), Get Far Feat. Sagi (“Shining Star”) and, last but not least, Benassi Bros. forthcoming single. His production skills have also been used by Matt Goss, former Bros singer (Minimal Chic “I Need The Key” peaked at Number 3 position in the UK Buzz Chart by Pete Tong). Motta enjoyed success with the very first project carrying his name Gianluca Motta (“Up & Down”) and the last episodes of his career as producer testify that the first one wasn’t an exception, as anyone can see looking to the international results reached by “Ooops Up” by Gianluca Motta Vs Snap! & NG3 (N° 6 in the UK Cool Cuts and N° 5 in the UK Mainstream Charts this February, licensed by Absolution). At the moment he’s promoting his first album Metropolis. The first single BERLIN is supported by best international dj’s ( Also Pete Tong in his ESSENTIAL SELECTION on Radio 1 ). The second single called TOKYO is a real club anthem . But the real success could arrive with the third single Called “ Not Alone “ , with a superb vocal performance by Molly Bancroft ( knowledge for the Gabriel & Dresden track “ Tracking treasure down “ ) and still played by Tiesto , Roger Sanchez & David Morales , and remixed by Tiger Stripes and Deadmau5. So, no need to argue regarding the status reached today by Gianluca as an artist, producer and remixer. Only the future could tell us which shining and brilliant goals our man will fix in his mind, soul and body. |
